Give it the light of day

Give it the light of day

Radical self acceptance is about bringing that which is in the shadow of our consciousness into the light. It is about acknowledging beliefs and ways of being that we would rather pretend they do not exist.

Radical self acceptance It is not about acting like we love and

embrace those characteristics . No offence to the body positivity or the no diet culture, or any similar movements; they do an important, life saving work. However like anything good, we can use it to hide what we are unwilling to confront.

What we refuse to acknowledge often holds the key to our liberation and success. It stops unconscious patterns of behaviour that creates the same results over and over again.

Carl Jung is quoted as having said “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” No truer words have ever been spoken.

The person that triggers the most anger and judgement from us is often demonstrating characteristics that we are refusing to own in ourselves.

The people in our lives often mirror to us what we refuse to acknowledge. This is not meant to encourage the belief that we are always at fault. Rather about shared accountability. These are not mutually exclusive.

You can have someone displaying toxic behaviour towards you and you can also have a pattern of attracting abusive behaviours in your life.

What needs to be brought into the light of day in your life?
