Leader at any level
I remember this one day, many years ago. My then boss’s boss took me to the Executive to our department and told him how well I was doing, something around I’m moving so fast she’s struggling to keep up.
The Executive’s response was that leaders, lead from wherever they are, even if it is from behind.
What we are often are missing is less about capability but about fear of our own power. The fear of showing up, of raising our hands, of daring greatly; shows up as a fear of failure. But really it is the fear of our own power.
We dim our light and refuse to see our brilliance because we are waiting for someone to give us the permission to be our brilliant selves. When we can start where we are, while we reach for where we want to be.
What I’ve learned is that it is only once you perform and show up at a level higher than you are. When you have outgrown your current position that life has to elevate you.
Only you can give yourself the permission to elevate, and it starts by embracing your greatness.
