Carrying a spear to a gun battle
The only battle that I’ve heard of where the winners had less sophisticated weapons than the defeated is the battle of Isandlwana, that was an exception. In general, if you want to win you have to be equal to the task.
One of the reasons why you have not yet reached the next level of leadership, income and impact is that you are simply ill prepared to be, do and have what it takes.
You are giving your power away by hoping that some one out there, out of the goodness of their heart or because of a sense of fairness will recognise that you deserve it and give it to you.
No one stays up at night thinking of how they make your life better, if they do it’s because it serves them. Even if it is just to affirm to themselves that they are a selfless person.
The truth is that the people who get ahead work at it. Even if the work is simply to get to a sense of worthiness and deserving.
One of Robert Greens 48 laws of power is ‘Make your accomplishments seem effortless’. Don’t be fooled by people who make it look easy. They have a strategy, they have tactics, they have the mindset and they have a support system.
They don’t just focus on competency and performance and then hope someone sees them.
You can do the same, you can build your capacity, capability, confidence and competence for the next level. Or you can continue criticising, envying and persecuting those who are willing to do, be and have what it takes.
Are you a Black Woman in the Workplace who feels called to the next level of leadership, income and impact?
