Do not allow life to turn you into a rudderless ship

Do not allow life to turn you into a rudderless ship

What usually happens we set the goal to achieve the next level of leadership, impact and income is that at first it excites us. We experience the euphoria of envisioning the life we will have once we have achieved this goal. However this euphoric feeling does not last.

See the next level requires the next level skills, mindset, habits and strategy. The fact that we have not achieved it yet means there is a gap in one of these areas.

Once we set the goal to up-level; this competence gap gets accentuated and our inner critic increases her chatter and volume.

What also happens is that our dissatisfaction with the status quo gets intensified. The same feeling one gets when they go back to their own vehicle once they have test driven their dream car.

This is a good concoction for depression, anxiety and often leads to us giving up on our goals.

What comes next is months and years drifting about, convincing ourselves that we have a good life. That we are virtuous because we are content, while others are killing themselves chasing fantasies.

The truth is that we are quietly miserable, and to quiet the intense dissatisfaction we numb ourselves with our poison/addiction of choice. Some addictions disguised themselves well as good deeds.

Don’t allow life to turn you into a rudderless ship. Hold a firm focus on your intention, allow yourself to be supported to stay the course. Until what was once imagined becomes reality.
