Don’t give your power away

It is fascinating to observe how we each respond when we are under pressure. Some go into victim mode, some into manipulation and some isolate.

Leadership is the business of people. Yes our job might be to operate and solve complex technical problems but machines, systems processes are often easier to navigate than people.

Probably 80% of the problems we would have to solve as leaders and plans we will successfully implement are usually connected to people.

As a result, the key measure of success in leadership will be based on our understanding of people in general and those we work with. And just as importantly it is to understand ourselves.

Not just who we are when things are okay. But who we are when we are triggered, when circumstances are not under our control

Do we give our power away? Do we manipulate? Are we able to exercise influence for a win win solution?

We might not always successfully navigate staying in our power under pressure, but we want to build the muscle and the confidence that comes from operating from our power, rather than giving it away.
