Good girls don’t create the next level of impact
Being a good girl might earn you approval. It might even earn you a promotion up to a certain level. However, Good girls don’t make a significant impact.
When someone wants a helper they hire a good girl, when someone wants a hard worker, they hire a good girl but when someone wants a leader, who will create a significant impact they don’t hire a good girl.
Good girls have a need to be liked. They are in pursuit of gold stars. They may get the likes but may never have respect.
Leadership requires boldness, it requires firmness, confidence, and it comes with visibility.
Leadership comes with power and power is always contested. Contestation invites conflict which requires firm boundaries.
A leader needs to command respect in order to inspire confidence in those they lead. They also need to command respect in order to effectively lead up and across.
Being a good girl may keep you safe and liked but it will not get you to the next level of leadership, income and impact.
