How do you function in the social hierarchy?
As a Black woman who finds herself positioned at the bottom end of the social hierarchy; you have to continually reflect on how you function in this social hierarchy. How do you interact with those who are above, in your level and even those placed below you based on your positional power, ableism, colorism and sexual orientation.
Leadership comes with positional power. Assuming that you possess this power, how do you interact with those who report to you but are higher on the social hierarchy? How do you lead them vs how you lead other Black women?
How do you give instructions, provide feedback, give support, deal with conflict with each party? How does that reflect your internalised inferiority or superiority?
Part of decolonising ourselves; which is the same to me as reclaiming our humanity, is to examine ways we still buy into and act according to these powerful, insidious social constructs.
Are you a Black Woman in the Workplace who feels called to the next level of leadership, income and impact?
