
Carrot or whip?
When all you have known is suffering and your goal has always been getting out of it. You can get used to toxic ways of motivating yourself to do anything.
You can get used to working yourself to the bone, whipping yourself mercilessly for not reaching or sticking to your unrealistic targets. You can self hate your way out of struggle.
This is the reason why so many people are so hard on themselves. Why they can never practice self compassion. They have this false belief that whipping themselves is the only way they can get things done. That loving themselves will make them lazy and they won’t achieve anything.
Well there’s another way. There’s a way to the achievement of your goals that is just as compelling but is paved with kindness, compassion and love towards yourself. This is achievement through anticipation rather than running away from struggle.
