What is my contribution to this conflict?

What is my contribution to this conflict?

Someone somewhere said that every problem has in it a seed of opportunity. Any difficult situation, including conflict at work has in it a seed of opportunity. Even if the opportunity is just for you to see areas in your life that needs work.

A bully provides an opportunity for you to see areas in your life where you are disempowered. This is an opportunity to empower yourself. A depressive episode in the workplace may lead you to seek the mental health help that you have been neglecting for a long time.

It is key in every situation, every conflict to ask yourself what you are bringing to this situation. What is yours to own in this conflict? It can be as simple as being naive, too trusting, too unaware. An opportunity to sharpen your focus.

It is also an opportunity to learn what is not yours to own in this conflict. What has got nothing to do with you. Because people are also relating with themselves through us. Going through their unresolved issues, incorrect perceptions in their interactions with us. This reflection also allows you to disentangle yourself for what is simply not yours to carry.
