Are you honouring your sovereignty?
One of the challenges that holds back Black women from advancing into leadership positions is the fact that we often do not have adequate tools to navigate the psychology, politics and culture of a Corporate workplace. This is mostly because we are often the first professionals in the family or we don’t come from families where such discussions are had, especially with the girl child.
There is a lot of information on strategies on how to navigate the workplace, in books, podcasts, webinars and now AI. It is the implementation of these strategies that is often the problem. The confidence and timing needed for the proper execution of these strategies will be lacking if they are not implemented from a place of an embodiment of your own sovereignty and not just from following the experts.
They will feel inauthentic and you may not be able to sustain their execution to the point of getting results. It is important therefore to start with building a foundation of self trust, of honouring your own sovereignty so you may be able to discern when to apply which strategy for sustainable results.
